Scarlett Johansson Embarrasses Husband Colin Jost Over Staten Island Ferry Investment: “If You Don’t Sell It, Then We…”. Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost hilariously clashed over his Staten Island ferry project on live TV. See why the actress wants to scrap it and how Jost defended his “investment.”
The Staten Island Ferry Debate: Scarlett vs. Colin
Scarlett Johansson didn’t hold back on TODAY with Jenna & Friends this week, putting her husband Colin Jost in the hot seat over his infamous Staten Island ferry purchase. Johansson, 40, jokingly pleaded for public support, saying, “If anybody out there would like to start a GoFundMe for the Staten Island ferry, please be my guest.”
The retired ferry, which Jost and Pete Davidson purchased at auction for $280,000 in 2022, has been the subject of scrutiny. Johansson humorously suggested scrapping the vessel, much to Jost’s dismay.

Colin Jost Defends His Investment
Jost, 42, tried to reassure his wife, joking, “Someday, you’re going to be getting so many paper cuts from all the checks that start rolling in from this ferry.”
The SNL star doubled down on his belief in the ferry’s potential, mentioning the ambitious plan to turn it into a $34 million entertainment venue with hotels, a concert space, and a restaurant.
Despite his optimism, even Jost admitted last year that the purchase was “the dumbest and least thought-through” decision he’d ever made.
A Plan or Just a Pipe Dream?
Jost and Davidson’s grand vision includes docking the ferry in New York for half the year as an entertainment hub and relocating it to Miami during the winter months. However, the project has faced delays, and questions remain about whether the investment will ever turn a profit.
When asked if the ferry could drift from the dock, Jost quipped, “It’s actually one of the things our insurers are worried about,” adding to the comedic tone of the conversation.
