Savannah Guthrie Raises Eyebrows with Unexpected Comment—Is She the Next to Leave Today?

Savannah Guthrie shocked fans by hinting that she could be the next to leave Today, drawing comparisons to Hoda Kotb’s exit. Is NBC planning another shake-up?
Could Savannah Guthrie Be the Next to Exit Today?
More than a month has passed since Hoda Kotb bid farewell to Today, but now, all eyes are on Savannah Guthrie, who recently made a surprising remark about her future at the network. Guthrie, currently co-hosting alongside Craig Melvin, has left fans speculating about whether she could be next to depart.

In a recent interview, she reflected on her role, stating:
“Right now, I have the best job with an amazing team, both in front of and behind the cameras. We’re doing meaningful work, and it’s a lot of fun. Who knows what the future holds? I’m open to possibilities, but I’m incredibly happy where I am.”
While her words seem optimistic, they also hint at uncertainty, fueling speculation about whether her time at Today is winding down.

Savannah Guthrie’s Journey at Today
Guthrie first joined NBC News in 2007 as a correspondent, later stepping into a co-hosting role on Today in 2011. A year later, she became co-anchor of the main show, alongside Matt Lauer.
Following Lauer’s departure in 2018, Hoda Kotb replaced him, forming a strong female-led team that many viewers came to love.
However, Kotb’s recent exit—reportedly to focus on family and personal projects—left many fans stunned. Her last episode aired on January 10, with Craig Melvin officially stepping in just days later.
Now, with Guthrie’s recent comments about her future, many are wondering if she could be the next major departure.

Guthrie’s Reaction to Hoda’s Departure
Savannah was traveling abroad for a wedding when she received a call from Hoda. Looking back, she admitted she had a bad feeling about the timing of the call.
“I told my husband, ‘Hoda wants to call me, and she knows I’m at the airport. That can’t be a good sign.’”
Her instinct was correct—soon after, Kotb announced her decision to leave the show.

Despite the transition, Guthrie spoke warmly about the camaraderie among the Today team, describing them as a family unit:
“I feel like the big sister on Today. Carson [Daly] is like my mischievous little brother, Craig is the cool one who explains all things sports, and of course, Al [Roker] is the fun uncle. Hoda was always our biggest cheerleader.”
