Ruth Langsford Subtly Hints at Rekindling Her Relationship with Eamonn Holmes Following a Family Loss.
Ruth Langsford recently defended her ex-husband, Eamonn Holmes, in a moment that surprised fans. Could a family bereavement have been the turning point in their relationship?
Ruth Langsford Publicly Supports Eamonn Holmes After Their Split
In May last year, TV personalities Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes shocked fans when they confirmed their separation after 14 years of marriage. The former This Morning co-hosts were reportedly in the process of divorcing and intended to keep things amicable. However, Eamonn later entered a new relationship, making headlines once again.
On a recent episode of Loose Women, Ruth unexpectedly mentioned her ex-husband in a way that sparked speculation about their relationship status.
An Emotional Reflection on Motherhood
During the show, the panel discussed Holly Willoughby’s emotional reunion with the midwife who delivered her daughter on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show. This prompted singer Myleene Klass to reflect on her bond with her own midwife, who supported her through childbirth after experiencing multiple miscarriages.
Ruth also shared her experience, reminiscing about her midwife, Maria, who had sadly passed away. She revealed that Maria had played a significant role in the birth of her son, Jack, in 2002 and remained a close family friend, even attending his birthday parties when he was young.

- Angelina Jolie has proven that she has found her “peaceful harbor” in Akala, subtly hinting that she plans to “retire” from her career and return to being a woman focused on family.
“I remember my midwife, Maria, who sadly passed away. But we stayed friends, and she came to Jack’s birthday parties when he was little,” Ruth recalled. “When Holly mentioned how her midwife helped her ‘breathe the baby out,’ I felt the same about Maria—like we brought Jack into the world together.”
A Lighthearted Yet Telling Moment
As Ruth spoke about her midwife’s support, she briefly acknowledged Eamonn’s presence during their son’s birth. “I mean, Eamonn was there, and he did what he could at that moment,” she said.
Her remark drew laughter from co-host Myleene and some audience members. However, Ruth quickly came to Eamonn’s defense, saying, “No, no, he did. He did.”
She then turned back to her fellow panelists and elaborated, “But at that moment, I was really relying on Maria. You know when your eyes are closed, and you’re just listening? I was focusing on her voice.”
Myleene nodded in agreement, highlighting the deep trust between a mother and her midwife. Ruth reaffirmed how crucial that connection was for her during childbirth.
A Potential Shift in Their Relationship?
Earlier this year, Ruth spoke about embracing her single life following the “painful” split. “Breakups—whether in marriage, friendships, or any relationship—are incredibly difficult,” she told Woman & Home. “But you deal with it and move on. You either let yourself fall apart or pick yourself up and keep going. It’s a choice.”
Since their separation, Eamonn has been seen publicly with his new partner, Katie Alexander, including a Mediterranean cruise they took together last year.
While Ruth previously seemed to be moving forward on her own, her recent comments about Eamonn have left some wondering if their relationship is on the path to reconciliation, especially following the loss of someone close to her.
