Meghan McCain Takes Another Shot at The View

Despite frequently claiming she has no interest in discussing The View, former co-host Meghan McCain has once again criticized the long-running talk show—this time taking aim at both the executives and her successor, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

On Monday, McCain, 40, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her disapproval of Griffin, a former Trump administration official who now occupies The View’s conservative seat.

Responding to a post in which Griffin condemned “serious Republicans” who supported Tulsi Gabbard for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, McCain—who has been a longtime friend of Gabbard—did not hold back.

McCain’s Longstanding Criticism of The View

A source familiar with the situation told Entertainment Weekly that Griffin has an extensive background in Republican politics, having served as a senior aide to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Trump’s White House communications director, and an official for both Vice President Mike Pence and the Department of Defense.

McCain has had a complicated history with Gabbard. Though she has previously criticized the politician, she has recently warmed up to her—especially after Trump nominated Gabbard for the Director of National Intelligence role.

Their friendship was on full display at an October 2024 event, where McCain took another swipe at The View, recalling a 2020 interview in which she claimed the panel mistreated Gabbard.

“Do you want a little juicy gossip, since it’s just us here? They were so scared of her,” McCain told the audience. “Tulsi and I were just starting to become friends, and I remember thinking, ‘I’m really going to have to defend this woman because they’re going to be so mean to her.’”

She described the moment as a turning point in their friendship, adding, “You can look it up—it was like vultures. We really bonded afterward. You [Gabbard] went after Joy [Behar] so hard that her husband took a picture of me, and I’m literally like [screaming] afterward.”

A History of Feuds and High-Profile Clashes

McCain left The View in 2021 after a series of heated on-air confrontations with co-hosts Joy Behar and moderator Whoopi Goldberg. Since her departure, she has frequently spoken out against the show, most recently in December 2023, when she interpreted a comment from panelist Ana Navarro about former co-hosts “influence-peddling” off their famous last names as a direct dig at her.

Since her exit, McCain has not only criticized The View but has also taken aim at several celebrities and public figures, including Meghan Markle, Ye, Bradley Cooper’s 2023 film Maestro, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, and Blake Lively.

The View Continues to Stir Debate

While McCain continues to voice her opinions from the sidelines, The View remains a staple of daytime television, airing weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
