Guest co-host Guthrie, 53, who shares two children—daughter Vale and son Charley—with her husband Michael Feldman, playfully mentioned that she had a dream in which Bush Hager was expecting another baby. Curious, she jokingly asked if there was any truth to it.
Bush Hager, 43, who is already a mother to Mila, Poppy, and Hal with her husband Henry Chase Hager, laughed and built up the suspense before admitting she had no baby news to share.
“I have nothing to announce,” she clarified. “I’m pretty sure I’ve come to terms with the fact that three—though it’s not a perfect number—is the perfect number for our family.”

Savannah’s Honest Reflection on Motherhood
Guthrie reassured Bush Hager that it was natural to feel unsure about stopping at three children.
“It’s very normal,” she said. “I think they call it ‘being broody.’ You get that longing for another baby, whether it’s a third or a fourth. I would have had a third in a heartbeat, but, you know, I was up against the clock.”
The conversation took a heartfelt turn as both women reflected on the deep bond they share—not just as colleagues but as friends and godmothers to each other’s children.
Tears Flow as Jenna and Savannah Celebrate Their Friendship
During the show, the two became emotional while discussing Guthrie’s newly released children’s book, Mostly What God Does Is Love You. The moment took an even more sentimental turn when Bush Hager spoke about her love for Guthrie’s daughter, Vale.
“I want to weep because I’ve known Vale-y every day since she was born—many of us have. But I’m so lucky to be her godmother,” Bush Hager said through tears. “I’m so proud of her. Everything you’ve given to them—all of your faith, shared so gently, without preaching or pressuring—is in those little kids. And when the world feels dark, that is hope.”
A Friendship That Feels Like Family
Bush Hager and Guthrie’s connection extends beyond the studio. The two were once neighbors, and their children formed a close friendship that has lasted even after Bush Hager moved out of the city.
Speaking with PEOPLE in 2023 at a celebration for Bush Hager’s Today book club, Guthrie expressed her deep admiration for their enduring friendship.
“Our kids are still buddies,” she shared. “Even though Jenna’s out of the city now, we plan weekends to see each other. It was such a special time when we were neighbors—five, six, seven years where our kids really grew up together.”
She added, “They’re more like cousins than anything. Hal, her youngest, is my godson, so my kids call her children their godbrothers and godsisters. It truly feels like family.”
