Dylan Dreyer’s Sudden Exit from Weekend Today Sparks Speculation—Was It a Strategic Power Play?

Dylan Dreyer Bids Farewell to Weekend Today
NBC’s Weekend Today delivered surprising news on Saturday as longtime meteorologist Dylan Dreyer announced her departure from the weekend show after nearly ten years. The decision, she revealed, was made to prioritize her family.
Saturday’s episode marked Dreyer’s final appearance on the program. However, she will continue to co-host 3rd Hour Today on weekdays alongside Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin.
A Look Back at Her Decade-Long Journey
During her farewell segment, Dreyer appeared remotely and watched a touching montage of her most memorable moments on the show. She reflected on her time at NBC, highlighting both her personal and professional milestones.
“I started in September 2012, and the next month, I got married. Since then, I’ve had three sons,” she shared. “It’s truly amazing to look back at everything I’ve experienced—not just in my personal life, but also in my time on the show.”

While expressing her love for the job, Dreyer admitted that balancing a six-day workweek had become increasingly difficult.
“I don’t want to step away, but I don’t think I can keep up with six days a week anymore. My boys keep me plenty busy,” she added.
Grateful for the Opportunity
Following the broadcast, Dreyer took to social media to express her gratitude.
“So grateful they took a chance on me!” she tweeted, acknowledging the impact Weekend Today had on her career. Despite stepping away from the weekend show, she reassured fans that she will still be on 3rd Hour Today every Monday through Friday.
What’s Next for Weekend Today?
With Dreyer’s departure, Weekend Today will continue with anchors Peter Alexander and Kristen Welker. As the show moves forward without its longtime meteorologist, fans are left wondering what’s in store for its future lineup.
