Bella Thorne Accuses Whoopi Goldberg of “Horrific Harassment” Over 2019 Controversy: “I Finally Have the Strength to Speak Out”

Bella Thorne is calling out Whoopi Goldberg for her past remarks about her 2019 photo leak, saying she has only now found the courage to address the emotional toll.
Bella Thorne Reopens 2019 Feud With Whoopi Goldberg
Years after facing public scrutiny over leaked private photos, Bella Thorne is speaking out once again—this time taking direct aim at Whoopi Goldberg for her response to the situation.

Thorne, who was in her early 20s at the time, had her private photos stolen by a hacker who threatened to release them. Instead of allowing someone else to control the narrative, she chose to share them herself, stating that she was “sick of letting men take advantage” of her.
However, while many supported her decision to reclaim control, Whoopi Goldberg had a much harsher take on The View—one that Thorne now describes as “horrific harassment.”

Whoopi Goldberg’s Comments Sparked Immediate Backlash
During a segment on The View, Goldberg reacted to the situation by appearing to blame Thorne rather than the hacker.
“Listen, if you’re famous, I don’t care how old you are—you don’t take nude pictures of yourself,” Goldberg said at the time.
She continued, “Hackers go after that kind of content. Whether it’s one picture or a hundred, once you take it, it’s out there. If you don’t understand that in 2019, you have no right to be surprised.”

Goldberg then added, “You cannot act shocked that someone hacked you—especially when you keep those photos on your phone. That’s exactly why they target people.”
Thorne was visibly distraught after hearing Goldberg’s remarks and publicly condemned her for what she saw as victim-blaming.
“Shame on you for making young girls feel disgusting for taking a personal photo,” Thorne said in response. “You’re encouraging a culture where women are shamed for their own bodies.”
Bella Thorne Breaks Her Silence Years Later
In a recent interview on The Viall Files podcast, Thorne revisited the controversy, explaining why it took her years to fully process the impact of Goldberg’s words.
“When I was forced to release my own nudes because I was being threatened, Whoopi Goldberg basically said I deserved it just because I took the photos,” Thorne shared.

“I was already struggling with the trauma of what happened, and hearing that just made it worse. It felt like even though I was trying to take back control, someone was still telling me it was my fault.”
She also revealed that many people accused her of faking the hacking as an excuse to release her own photos, making the situation even more difficult.
“That was devastating,” she admitted. “It was already so painful, and to be told that I was lying about it? That made everything so much harder to go through.”

Did Whoopi Ever Apologize?
When asked whether Goldberg had ever personally apologized, Thorne hesitated before responding:
“Um… I think I’ll skip that question.”
After a pause, she added:
“There was a video sent from backstage. Yes, there was a video. Um… yes.”
Her vague response suggests that while an attempt at reconciliation may have been made, it might not have felt genuine to Thorne.

Will Whoopi Respond This Time?
Goldberg has yet to comment on Thorne’s renewed accusations, but the controversy is reigniting discussions about victim-blaming, privacy, and how public figures handle sensitive issues.
Will Goldberg address Thorne’s latest remarks? Or will the situation remain unresolved? Fans and critics alike are watching closely.
