Ana Navarro Admits She Regrets Rushing Into Marriage: “I’m Paying the Price for It…”

Ana Navarro Opens Up About Her Wedding and Regrets
Republican commentator and The View co-host Ana Navarro has never been one to hold back her opinions—especially when it comes to setting the record straight about her personal life.
Navarro, 47, tied the knot with former Florida GOP chairman Al Cardenas, 71, in a star-studded Miami ceremony at the exclusive Indian Creek Country Club on March 2. The event was attended by big names like Eva Longoria, Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, Mitt Romney, and her View colleagues Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin.
However, in the years since, Navarro has admitted that despite the glamorous celebration, she may have rushed into marriage too quickly—a decision she now says she’s paying the price for.
Lavish Wedding Sparks Headlines and Controversy
Shortly after her wedding, the Washington Examiner published an article scrutinizing the expensive items on Navarro’s wedding registry, calling it an example of “the expensive tastes of Florida’s leading Never Trumpers.”

The piece highlighted high-end items from stores like Macy’s, Crate & Barrel, and Pottery Barn, including:

- $39.50 “sustainably sourced” striped pool towels
- $89.99 Villeroy & Boch Buffet Plate Mandarin Chargers (12 total)
- $46 Squared Zen Melamine Large Green Leaf Platters (3 total)
- $248.99 Bedgear Dri-Tec King Sheet Set
- $379 Tall Black Pedestal Planter
- $6,328.08 worth of Macy’s tableware
Navarro took to X (formerly Twitter) to push back against the article, sarcastically responding, “$39 towels from Pottery Barn sound so ‘lavish.’ Oooh, I’m so shamed.” She also denied claims that Senator Bob Menendez had attended the wedding, clarifying that he had been at a funeral in New Jersey at the time.
Addressing speculation that she had sold exclusive wedding rights to People magazine, Navarro refuted the claims, though she did grant them an exclusive interview about her nuptials.
A Love Story Years in the Making—But Was It the Right Time?
In her People interview, Navarro revealed that she had actually met Cardenas 25 years earlier, but the timing wasn’t right for a romantic relationship back then.
“It wasn’t the right time back then, so we became very good friends through the years and through the decades,” Navarro shared. “Finally, things fell into place, things worked out, and we were able to be here today.”
However, as time has passed, Navarro has begun to question whether she rushed into the marriage too quickly, admitting that she may not have fully considered all the realities of such a major life decision.
Looking Back—A Celebration to Remember
Despite her regrets, Navarro has fond memories of her wedding day. Speaking on The View, she described it as “perfect” and exactly how she envisioned it.
“We worked so hard on this in such a short time, and everything turned out exactly how I wanted,” she recalled. “The flowers were gorgeous, beyond what I expected. I didn’t even try the food because I was worried I’d burst out of my dress, but everyone who did said it was amazing.”
She added that the celebration was a lively and joyous event. “I wanted it to be fun. I wanted people to dance, to celebrate, to have a great time. We literally had to kick people out at 1 or 2 in the morning—that’s what I’ll remember most.”
