Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Emotional IVF Journey

Alyssa Farah Griffin has always been known for her strong opinions and composed demeanor on The View, but behind the scenes, she has been fighting a deeply personal battle—her struggle to conceive. In a raw and emotional moment on The View: Behind the Table podcast, she opened up about her ongoing IVF journey and the heartbreak she has endured along the way.

“I’m going through IVF right now,” Farah Griffin, 35, shared. “My husband [Justin Griffin] and I have been hoping, trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half, and it wasn’t happening naturally. So we made the decision to move forward with IVF. This is now my second cycle.”

The cohost revealed that she would be absent from The View’s “Hot Topics” table for a day due to a critical doctor’s appointment, underscoring how all-consuming the process has been for her. While she had not initially planned to make her fertility struggles public, she felt compelled to speak out to raise awareness and support other women facing similar challenges.

The Unexpected Challenges of Fertility Treatment

Farah Griffin admitted that she was blindsided by how difficult the journey to motherhood has been for her. “I had no idea at my age how hard this actually would be,” she told podcast host Brian Teta. “I’m only 35, and to me, I was like, ‘I’ve got plenty of time. This won’t be that difficult. I’m healthy. I work out. I eat right.’ My body was just not cooperating.”

She recalled the emotional and physical toll IVF has taken, particularly during her second cycle. “I’ve been a wreck,” she confessed. “I’ve not felt myself. I’ve been tired. I’ve been emotional. You feel uncomfortable in your body.”

Her first cycle had been relatively smooth, but the second one brought unexpected difficulties, leading her to feel overwhelmed. She recounted how she had to administer IVF injections while covering Election Night in November, balancing the demanding process with her responsibilities as a television personality and political commentator.

“The stories we usually hear about IVF are from women on the other side, saying, ‘Here’s my baby and, oh, real quick, it was kind of hard to get here,’” Farah Griffin noted. “But nobody talks about the middle part—the uncertainty, the exhaustion, the heartbreak of not knowing if it will work.”

Finding Strength and Support

Despite the pain and frustration, Farah Griffin is determined to remain hopeful. “I wanted to share with women struggling that there is hope,” she said. “You just have to be present in the process. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I just don’t know when it will be for us.”

Her candid admission struck a chord with many women who have faced similar fertility struggles. She emphasized that she was not looking for sympathy but rather to create a space where others could feel less alone.

Farah Griffin also expressed immense gratitude for the support she has received from her The View cohosts, particularly Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin. “They’ve been extra supportive through the process,” she said, acknowledging how much their kindness has meant to her during such a vulnerable time.

Still, she wanted to keep things lighthearted, joking, “I mostly shared so if I meltdown on air, you know why!”
