The Emotional and Physical Toll of IVF
Despite her initial optimism, Alyssa admitted she underestimated how difficult the IVF process would be.
“I’m healthy, I work out, I eat right, and I thought this wouldn’t be that difficult,” she shared. “But my body was just not cooperating.”
Her first cycle was manageable, but the second cycle proved far more challenging. “I’ve been a wreck. I’ve not felt myself. I’ve been tired, emotional, and uncomfortable in my body,” Alyssa said, reflecting on the toll the treatments have taken on her both physically and mentally.
The co-host also shared a poignant memory of administering IVF injections late at night during Election Night coverage at CNN, a stark reminder of the determination and resilience required to undergo the process while maintaining her demanding career.
A Message of Hope for Others Struggling
Alyssa chose to share her IVF story to provide comfort and solidarity to others who may be going through similar experiences.
“I wanted to talk about this because all the stories we hear are usually from women who’ve made it to the other side, holding their baby,” she said through tears. “But I wanted to let others know that it’s okay to struggle, it’s okay to feel exhausted, and that there is hope.”
While Alyssa acknowledged that she and her husband’s journey is still ongoing, she expressed gratitude for the advancements in science that make their dream of parenthood possible.
